My eucalyptus tree has lost its silvery green colour and is just plain green now. Can I get it back to that silvery hue ?

Landgirl's right - most eucalyptus have two kinds of leaves on the tree - rounded, greyish silvery ones and longer, narrow green ones. The first type are juvenile leaves, the second mature. If you have no juvenile leaves, there may some right at the top of the tree that you don't notice. Cutting back will encourage new growth, but as to how much, depends on the size of your tree currently.

Hi, welcome to GoY, I agree with Landgirl and Bamboo, unless you have a very large garden, I would keep it as a shrub rather than a tree, you can cut it back to about 6 inches every year in early spring, and you will always have the [in my opinion] better looking juvenile foliage, and it should still reach a height of between 4 and 6 feet, each year, this is the only way you will be able to have the juvenile foliage permanently, Derek.

Well, there is another way, Derek - I used to have one in my garden years ago before I moved, and I kept it as a small tree, trunk about 4 feet tall and kept the growth on top trimmed back, in total, never any taller than 8 feet. It worked, but it was a bit of a faff, chopping it back 3 or 4 times a year.

Hi Bamboo, yes I agree, but I find it much easier to trim a shrub than a small tree, I'm a bit of a lazy gardener on the quiet, lol, Derek.

Me too, now - when I had the eucalypt, I was half the age I am now and things didn't creak and crack every time I moved...

Hi Bamboo, yes I know THAT feeling, everything seemed so much easier 40 years ago, Derek.

Many eucalypts only have silvery juvenile foliage, so the solution is to cut back hard every year. I'm sure someone will be along soon to tell you how.
