Don't forget to feed it, either--it's a very hungry species.

I wouldn't recommend feeding it indoors over winter, though Tugbrethil, if Twidaw wants to plant it outside next year...

It's a tender subtropical, Bamboo. We sometimes get frost damage on it here, the tiny bit of frost we get. I would keep it in a pot, so it can be moved in and out, according to the season, and, when outside, kept in a warm, sheltered, south-facing position. Light feedings in the winter, just to maintain its health, since it never really goes dormant, and regular as clockwork feeding in the summer. In Norway, it may need artificial light in the winter to keep it happy.

« Hi, can anyone help identify a tree in our garden. It's approximately 50 feet...
I'm afraid you'll need a heated conservatory or heated greenhouse to get it through the winter - it needs a lot of sun, or as much as possible, and temperatures no lower than 5 deg C overnight, especially in a pot.
