Hi - grayswood ghost - silver birch.
We have one planted for about eight years now but this year it hardly has any leaves and it looks like its dying.
Its planted on good soil which as had bark surrounding it for the past five years for weed control and is about a metre from a Privet hedge.
The garden is East facing.
What can be done to revive it please
Thanks

Any possibility that weedkiller could have been taken up by the roots? The roots of birch can be very near the surface.
When you put the bark down what kind of membrane did you put under it - needs to be one that rain can penetrate.
Have you been tapping the trunk for sap for winemaking? Other than that no idea, sorry!
