Any idea what this flower/plant is please, I thought it was a Anemone Nemorosa but it is flowering in late Aug/Sept time not early spring as I read? It's a tall stem and is pod like before opening.

I think the white ones are usually Anemone x hybrida. 'Honorine Jobert' is one of the white cultivars.

Thanks folks, I wish they belonged to me! I walk past them with my dogs most days and always admire them but now thanks to your help maybe I'll be proud owners next year.
