What kind of plant is this? Thank you

That's a variety of Joseph's Coat (Codiaeum variegatum) probably 'Red Banana'. It grows best with bright, indirect light, or even filtered sun, but it develops more red color in medium indirect light.

Very difficult plant to grow unless you have a greenhouse heated to a minimum night temp of around 15 degrees C and lots of humidity. They get scale, mealy bug and red spider a lot too.
Stunning plant if you can keep them alive....saw them growing as weeds along the roadside in the Caribbean.

That's 60ยบ F for the rest of us Yanks. Since we have warmer summers and more sunlight than the UK, it is easier as a houseplant or indoor/outdoor plant here in the U.S., though I still wouldn't classify it as "easy". It looks like you have had that for some months, Tony, and it seems to be doing just fine--I never argue with success! :)
