Do you know what's causing small holes in my lawn that are about 1" in diameter and about 2" deep? They look as though they've been punched with a steel pole and no loose dirt appears on the surface.

Don't know where you are residing but it looks like ( I have seen the photos you have posted in your photos section and your icon) the work of voles to me.

Badgers did that on my front lawn. I came home late one night and found one in action. Although 2" deep seems a bit too deep.
