I have lost all my raspberry plants after I had planted a new raspberry area. This I believe is due to two very wet winters and the raspberry plants I think have been effected by a fungus.
I have had to dig them all up. However I invested in a large raspberry cage.
If the soil is infected could I build raised beds with new soil say 12 inches deep and plant new raspberry plants.

Thanks. Yes, mine is a virus due to very wet conditions over a two winter period.
Having invested in a cage for the raspberries I was hoping that I could replant if I put in raised beds with say new 12 inches of soil.

I wish I knew the answer. I've dug out the ones obviously affected and thought I might leave the others to see what happens next year - if they have to come out anyway and can't be replaced for ages I haven't lost anything. Pity about your fruit cage - very disappointing.
Have a look at the RHS advice. If its spread by nemotodes it may not be worth making raised beds.

What exactly happened to them? Did they just die straight away or did they leaves go yellow first? This happened to some of mine and I was told it was probably a virus. When I looked up raspberry virus it said don't replant nearer than 16 metres, which is a non starter for me.
The place where i planted mine just won't have them at any price. Its so disappointing.
