I agree just get them planted. having said that I have bought alliums in the January sales and they have always come up with out any problems. I usually start them off in pots just in case they don't grow. but as I've said they always have.

Worth a try as long as the soil isn't frozen, but it may not flower until 2017. As for bargain bulbs, weigh them in your hand, and if they feel heavy--i.e., still moist inside--try them if you're inclined. If they are light and dry...fuggettaboutit! :)

What are you going to do with them if you don't plant them, Alistar? Get them in the ground and give them a chance. On the other hand, if they are still in the shop as a Boxing Day Sales bargain - just leave them there;-)))
