I am wondering what the root system on the electric pink cordylines is like around pipes. I'm looking at putting some next to my pool but I have PVC piping running below the soil. Are they strong enough rooting to puncture the pipes.

Thanks

I would say that it won't be a problem as they have soft, fleshy roots. The only drawback is that the red varieties can be quite tender and would need a sunny, sheltered spot. The green varieties are hardier.

Also, if they do well, the root mass can become dense enough to push the pipes around, if planted within 50 cm.

How do I say thanks?
