Thanks to some of you guys I had a great show of "triffids" on my front garden last year. Do you have any suggestions as to what I could follow up with this year ?

Lavatera trimestris 'Silver Cup'?

Your garden looks a lot nicer the right way up, Hank! I copied it them turned it round.
How about Cosmos this year? They are lovely daisy plants with ferny foliage (in case you don't know), or maybe a tall grass such as Stipa Gigantea interplanted with either Verbascums or Verbena Bonariensis. The bees and butterflies love the latter.

In my files, all my pictures are all the right way up, I've no idea why they sometimes transfer wrongly. Maybe someone can put me right on this question as well as gardening ?
Thanks for the replies already received re the plants, I 'll check them out later today.

Bamboo,
I like the look of the Lavatera Trimestris Silver Cup, but my soil where I want to put them is not good ( although the Triffids did well there last year ). Will they be ok in poor soil ? If so I'm going to try them.

In my experience Cosmos will grow virtually anywhere but do prefer sun, as does the Stipa but the two together could look great. Depends on how you visualize your planting area.

Add a bit of composted manure or garden compost then, Hank - Lavatera trimestris prefers full sun but tolerates some shade well, and likes good to reasonable, ordinary garden soil.

Went looking for the lavatera today, found 6 different ones but not this one. Going into town tomorrow a.m. to look again.
