fuchsias fruit ?

we have never seen fruit resembling cherries on a fuchsia plant before, are they edible?

The ones that form on one of the New Zealand Fuchsias are very definitely edible. Without getting all the books down and doing some research I cannot remember the name of the plant though. SO, whilst probably not particularly tasty the ones on other Fuchsias are not poisonous.

I read an article in one of the Sundays recently on edible flowering plants and it said the Fuchsia seed pods that is the dark purple seed pods (that you get on the dark red fuchsias) and get like fat cherry like berries Are edible in fact I tried one of mine - and I'm still here..

Fuchsia berries are absolutely delicious. I have been eating them for some 20 years and friends collect them for me from their plants.
Nice with raspberries and cream or I use them in leafy salads for a bit of extra flavour and colour

You can dry these and sow the seeds .
But have to say never tried to eat them before.

Don't eat them I'm pretty sure they are'nt edible. They are most probably the pips left when the flowers drop off and they contain the seeds, and you're right they do sometimes look like little cherries. Its a good idea to remove these to encourage the plant to continue flowering.
