I grew to many lettuce over winter and the last 6 are past their best. Can I tear them apart, including the roots and throw them in the compost bin or must the roots be excluded ?

Just pull them up, roots and all, and put in your compost bin - they don't need tearing up was they will rapidly rot down.

Thanks again MG, job done already.

Alternatively, you could have made lettuce soup and frozen it down. Lots of tasty recipes on the 'net. :)

Have never heard of lettuce soup R, but will certainly look up the recipe you mentioned. I always end up with too many lettuce.

How do I say thanks?
