Thank you for your help with the tree Longleaf. We are also in Cornwall so it would seem right.

Yes, the top one looks like a rhododendron/azalea in an English garden; I don't know the bottom one but it looks as if it is in a more tropical setting.

The powers that be have recently put azaleas into the rhododendron class, so it doesn't really matter. A few years ago it would have been an azalea....

Re. the 1st pic - try googling: "pink azalea japonica" and then select "Images" and search for the one that most looks like yours.
Our azalea japonicas are small and evergreen.
The 2nd pic looks like Podocarpus.
If the leaves are 2 - 4 and a half inches long - it could be P. salignus (which we have here).
Or maybe P. macrophyllus - whose leaves may be 2 - 4 inches, or up to around 6/7 inches on younger vigorous plants.
We bought many of our garden plants/trees from nurseries in Cornwall.

Other possibilities you may wish to research are: Podocarpus henkelii, P. matudae, P. gracilior.

The second pic looks like Podocarpus henkelii. Definitely not P. gracilior, and I'm not familiar with P. matudae.
