Can you transplant or move flowering tulips? I have a few rogue tulips that must have self seeded in the wrong place. Once they've died down I always forget to dig them up or what colour they are.

I never had luck moving tulips while in flower. They just didn't flower again the next year. I usually get blanks - a lot of leaves with no flowers. Put a marker of some sort in front of them - a stone, shell or something; then transplant bulbs once foliage naturally dies back.

With a screen name like yours, Amsterdam, you should know the answer. :) Lol.

You can move the tulips but you must take care not to damage the bulb or the roots so dig all round and under. Personally, I would wait until they've finished flowering.

Yes take photos so you remember the colour of the flowers, deadhead when the flower is finished and loosely tie a piece of coloured wool or twine round the leaves to remind you to lift after they have died back.

Snowdrops are moved while leaves are in the green, so it doesn't hold true for all flowering bulbs.
