I've been trying to pull out new shoots from Solomon's seal because of the pesky black flies that always lay eggs on it, which turn into caterpillars and strip the leaves every year. I'm going to leave a clump as its in a shady part of the garden but what can you recommend for killing the beasts before they reproduce?
