I'm pretty sure it's Lilium 'African Queen'. I'm very familiar with this variety as we have grown it several times at work. Quite tall growing with very heavy scent. The flush on the back of the petals looks right too.

funnily we call it Bob as in 'bobs your uncle' when events work out well.
It isnt Golden Joy as i have those too. Thanks for the suggestion though.
When you say quite tall 2.5 to 3ft tall? as this is the size it has grown too. it is in a pot. I will have a closer look at your suggestion Fractal.

Certainly 3ft. I'm sure some reach 3½ft to 4ft, at least some of ours did.

it must have been an errant seed/bulbil as this is the first year it has flowered. it is amongst asiatics and i did notice the leaf was different.
I certainly never bought it. so a nice freebie.
