I planted a hedge of red robins last year. They have grown well but a few have developed black leaves which are like paper to touch and just crumble. How can I stop this ?

A photo or two of the plants would be useful - without it, or without more information, best I can say is it might be frost damage on new tender leaves, or it could be leaf spot. So are the blackened crispy leaves at the top, and were they new leaves? Are there any brown spots on the foliage anywhere else?
