Can someone please confirm that I should be cutting off the leaves on this fern? I can see new leaves growing from the base but it seems such a shame as the fern with its existing leaves is looking so splendid.

I would cut off only the dead and tatty leaves. Most of them look fine to me, so I would leave those.

I know how you feel Andrea. Some of my ferns look so splendid that I hate to cut them back.

Yep, you should remove those leaves - you could wait a week if you want, but to be honest, those leaves do look a bit winter tatty...
