What to plant??? I'm extending the border (the kennel will be moved) the area gets full sun all day, pretty much wind free, and has easy draining soil. What can I plant that will grow tall and tree like above the fence level but won't get too tall or wide because our garden is overlooked and we want more privacy :) any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thankyou! We have a purple one (no idea which) and we did say maybe another one! I think it's destined for it! Might even get away with a clematis too! Thankyou!

If I'm not mistaken, isn't that a Magnolia in the large pot there? Why not plant that in that area, it'll outgrow that pot soon enough, if it hasn't already... you'd likely have to dig the area over and add plenty of composted materials such as garden compost or, better, composted animal manure from the garden centre.

What about a nice Arbour Dan?

Yes it is a magnolia! It's going to be moved when I do this border into the front garden right behind where it is now, it's only a year old :) it will be well dug over too :) and we'll have a look at arbours :)

Cotoneaster Cornubia would be my choice. Evergreen to semi-evergreen; masses of white flowers, followed by red fruits in autumn. You can have it as a bush or tree and is quite happy to be pruned to suite. It is not a dense tree, but will obscure your neighbours' vision but not make your garden too shady.

I'll have a look into it! Just need something to block their direct view in aha! Got the white rose bush (can't remember if it's a rambler or climber) and that does the trick but I need something for that corner now :)

Well if you're not planting the magnolia there, the cotoneaster Jimmy's recommended is a lovely plant, strong grower.

Thankyou! I'll check into it for sure :) Thankyou all!

Now Dan, just mind you don't come back with an Acer instead...
For the cotoneaster (lovely tree) Have a look at https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/details?plantid=563 to plant the right distance from the fence.

Haha! Definitely not an acer this time! Although when I went the other day they had got tree sized ones :) and Thankyou! I'll look at the link!

Buddlejas!
It's an ideal corner for a nice big Buddleja globosa, the one with the orange ball flowers: mostly evergreen and non-invasive.
As it's shetered you could try a more exotic species like B. forrestii or nivea var. yunnanesis.
