My 'Mr President' Clematis has accidentally been cut down by about 1.5/2 feet! It had just started to come into bud/flower, with still more height to go, (it usually grows to about 6 foot) and with more new shoots coming up - will it still flower, and carry on growing to full potential this season?? or is it curtains for flowering this year!!

Many thanks, such good news to hear that it will at least have some flowers this year. The first flowers are often very big, but at least I will have the smaller flowers later.
Thank you again.

It will still flower - but you'll probably have lost the early, larger flowers, so what you'll get are the later, smaller flowers. The President is a prune group 2, which means it haslarge flowers May/June and smaller ones around July.
