I've been sorting out the many pots that we brought with us when we moved in November and have found one with dozens of tulip bulblets in it. Will these take an age to mature, or is it even worth the wait? The mature ones I am repotting but shall I feed them now as I don't think many of them flowered this Spring?

For most Tulip hybrid bulblets, the rule of thumb for blooming time is 5 years, minus 1 for each cm of bulblet diameter. Sometimes they bloom quicker, but I would consider that a pleasant surprise. Remember to plant them fairly deep--including the mature ones--since shallow planting causes them to break up into smaller bulblets.

Certainly feed them.Whether its worth growing the bulblets on depends on how much space you have and how keen you are to try it.

Thanks. I only planted them to flower last Spring and they didn't do much this year. I shall pop them in a corner and see what happens.

How do I say thanks?
