We moved into this house almost 2 years ago and we have been unable to identify this tree, the seeds when mature look like chestnuts, a smooth brown shiny she'll but no spikes on the outer shell. So could you please tell us what it is and are the nuts?? Edible.

The flowers look very much like Horse Chestnut, Aesculus and there are a lot of different species. Aesculus indica has non-spiny fruits.

If it is one of the Horse Chestnuts then 'no' you can't eat them.

If Owdboggy's right it will grow to over 20m high and shade the whole lawn.
