If it turns out to be difficult to select a tidy leader you could always take a few cuttings and start from scratch. They grow fast at this time of year. Or evben do both and see which works best.

No reason why you shouldn't give it a go, but you'll need to put it in a greenhouse or inside somewhere to get it through the winter.
