Hello everyone. I have been given a small, very young Cotoneaster Horizontalis. Have grown the upright variety but not sure how to grow this variety. Will it just spread over the ground or do i have to grow it where it has space to grow downwards? All advise greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Thank you Scotsgran, i have looked the link up and read your advise which is most helpful. I don't have a wall but will plant it on the edge ofthe garden border as it it about 12" high from the patio. Hopefully that should do the job. Will plant it and see how it goes.

Good luck with it, sounds an ideal spot to show it off.

The great thing about it is that you can keep it to the space you allocate for it by just cutting it back when it grows beyond the space. I prune upward growing shoots off too so that it remains ground/wall hugging where it tumbles over the edge of the wall.
