Apple tree in new garden
Hello everyone. I'm looking for a bit of advice regarding an apple tree in the garden of our new house. I've been told it's a good eating variety, possibly cox.
Unfortunately I think the previous owner pruned it too hard last year before selling up. We've had no blossom and the tips of the shoots have gone silvery.
Any advice on how to nurture the tree back to health greatly appreciated. (I've just cut the stems of the ivy to start!)

Wait until the winter before you do anything. You'll be able to see what you're doing then too. It looks as though the tree has overcompensated for a hard prune and when you can see the original structure you'll be able to see where to shorten back what should be the spurs.

I will say to have patience and the tree will correct any wrongdoing on its own.
