Sorry Bamboo but Sauromatum venosum has a much narrower, brown coloured inflorescense. This is Dracunculus vulgaris also known as Dragon Lily. I don't agree with the illustration on your link but do grow Sauromatum venosum.

Ha ha, monkey, don't fret - it is, indeed, Dracunculus, now I've looked again. That's what you get for dashing off a quick response in the midst of clearing up after dinner for the family....

Bulbaholic, not sure what you mean when you say you don't agree with the 'illustration' but you grow Sauromatum - do you mean yours doesn't look like the one in the photo I posted? Is it very different in appearance then?

Hi Bamboo, if you look at my photos I have pictures there. Firstly, page 1, top line, far right is the foliage which comes after the inflorescence has died away (just coming now). The inflorescence is on page 2, second bottom row, third pic along. As you will see, they are very different. Hope this helps.

Hmmm Bulbaholic, looks as if the link I provided might be incorrectly named by the poster.... Google Saurumatum and what comes up are plants just like yours.

How do I say thanks?
