For Simbad and Wylie: This is one of my Day Lilies. As you can see, its really healthy and throwing up leaves like its having a party. But only one flower stem. What am I doing wrong please? I think this one is Stella De Oro but am not entirely sure tbh.

Hmm...I always thought that might be the issue. But to be fair, my other taller one, the scented lemon one, is doing really well just a couple of metres away. I think I might just remove this one and get another scented one! Thank you!

If it is a Stella, it needs dividing at least every 3 years to maintain performance. That particular one is know for needing division (I saw it mentioned in the AHS Journal).

Ok Wylie, thanks. Its never flowered well though. I shall try that though...maybe.

Yeah..stella. I have two in the border. The other one has 'never ' flowered. I think they will need to go.

Two meters can make hours of difference in the sun, depending on the exposure. 'Stella d'Oro' is also more sensitive to too much shade than some other varieties.

They are in full sun all day Tug...but this is Scotland. :)

Oi, steady on! ;)

Dig it up, and replant a 2 fan piece and see how it does, although it probably won't do anything until next year. It looks extremely crowded.

Yes, they both look crowded. Thanks Wylie.

OK, OK, Karen! In honesty, anyone who has experienced our summer heat has certain other names for my home town! :)

lol Tug!...its so wet here this morning, it's like living in a swamp! :( I have made a decision on the Hemerocallis this morning. I have a lovely H. Lilioasphodelus which has lots of flower stems on it, but will need dividing this year. So will divide that and replace these Stella De Oro with it, as I know it does well enough here. And it has the lovely scent too. :) Thanks everyone! :)

Is it getting sun, Karen? In my experience, they need at least 4 hours of sun to bloom well, and they might need even more in the UK.
