Why does this same patch of lawn keep dying? It has been reseeded and returfed 3 or 4 times and within 2 weeks of returfed this happens. We used to have a grapevine growing nearby but I think this was happening before that was removed. I am desperate to the point of thinking about artificial grass!

do you have a dog [female]? if you do then it is likely to be scorching from when she has a wee.
if not have you spilt any chemicals there eg petrol/barbeque fuel/ weedkiller/salt?
does it get any bigger or is it always the same size?
do you have a septic tank underneath?

What's beneath that patch? If there's concrete or bricks or pipework or any other kind of obstruction, even a few inches beneath, that would cause this.
