I would take Seaburngirl's advice and really think carefully about planting in a container. I have two in my garden and they have become massive, (mine are at least twelve feet high and have a thick trunks) even though I prune heavily every year. They will outgrow even the largest container in a few years.

this gets to quite a substantial size and it would be better in the ground really.
general purpose compost will be fine but you will need a large pot for it and it will need feeding regularly.
