Is the second one Thorn Apple? (Datura stramontium) At least the flower look like one of that family.
And how about
Aesculus parviflora for the first?
Both pure guesses.

Have these been here for more than one year, Vjd? And what is the approximate size of the flower of the second one?

yes they have been in for over a yr, but i never noticed the flowers on either until this yr flower size is about 2 inches long and shaped like a trumpet

hi tug i think your right looked up the picture of easter lily vine and it looks like it and it is a vine type growing tall

The only problem is that Easter Lily Vine is a subtropical, and can take nearly no frost. I was thinking a form of Jasminum officinale, but the only info that I can find on the flower size runs about an inch wide.

Pretty plants, whatever they are, Vjr. I'm going to keep looking, just because I'm curious, now. The first pic keeps itching the back of my brain, but the memory won't advance and be recognized. If I find or remember anything else, I'll let you know.

Aha! A memory finally jumped out and said "Boo!" I Think that the first pic is a dwarf form of Summersweet (Clethra alnifolia). Still percolating on the second pic! :)

Sorry, Vjd. I have been trying to research them, but I have gotten nowhere on the first pic, and the closest that I have gotten on the second is Easter Lily Vine (Beaumontia grandiflora), but that wouldn't grow outside in New York. Another possibility would be a jasmine of some kind, but I haven't found one that really matches.
