Can bedding Dahlia, Dahlia Happy Days White be kept alive over winter? Thanks.

Dahlias need to have that dormancy period or they'll run out of 'steam'. Once the frost blackens the foliage, dig them up, cut off the foliage, clean them off and store them in a cool, dark place around 40f. The basement or garage should suffice. While dormant, mist the tubers every couple of week so they don't dry out completely. You can start them again indoors 4-6 weeks before the last frost date to get a jump on the season. Then plant them outdoors in May/June.

Thank you both for taking the time to reply.

You might be able to keep it as a houseplant over winter, but some bedding dahlias do actually start forming tubers during the summer - if you find it has formed a tuber, you can lift and store for winter as with other dahlias.
