I have alstroemeria in my border which produce plenty of leaves but few flowers. I need to know what type it is on order to divide at the appropriate time, in the hope that it will flower better. Although the few flowers (1 or 2 only) are orange, I believe they were bought as varied colour. If impossible todetermine, when should I divide the clump, and is there any other advice you can give, please/
Thank you

Thank you Louise, Mine are certainly in a fairly shady position. When I divide them I'll move them to a sunnier spot.

Be sure to handle them carefully when moving. The tuberous roots are very brittle, and crowns without roots have a high mortality rate.

« can you cut stipa arun right down in spring as there is so much dead growth?
They don't flower well if they're too dry or too shaded ..... when deadheading, make sure you cut that entire stem back to the ground too.
Divide clumps in spring or autumn ..... and i don't know of any that have various coloured flowers on one plant, i'd have thought if they were the orange flowered type they'll stay that way.
I grow a lot here but none are multi coloured.
