I don't know when Fall is over there, but in England, where autumn begins next month, that means no hard cutting back of this plant now - just a light trim over so as not to encourage lots of new, tender growth which won't have time to harden off before winter sets in. So for you, the same would apply, depending on your climate there. Best time to cut back hard is mid to late spring.
