Olearia hastii: Bought one two years ago. The label said grows to 75cm and as i didn't know any different I believed it. Now it appears this was apparently a huge error - or does anybody know if there's a dwarf one? I can move it to include with the hedge shrubs if its going to get big.

That's what I feared Bamboo.I hope it survives the move then as it can't stay where it is much longer. Serves me right for impulse buying...

I know you are aware you should wait till late autumn to do it...

Oh yes. Today have been removing privet (with OH's help) and getting organised to improve the soil but there's way to go yet...But it will have to be kept at well under 4 metres wide where its going...

I;ve never seen one that wide - last one I planted got about 6 feet across before it was removed.

Did you try clipping it? How old was it when it reached that width?

Ten years I think - I was already clipping it over after flowering every year, we just got fed up with it really, wanted a change.

Perhaps I'd better clip it a bit before trying to move it. The tip is already about a metre tall and I know its risky but it will have to move from where it is. Not desperately keen on it anyway as I'd only read descriptions before and was imagining much bigger "white daisies" that that!

I agree - the reality of this plant does not match up to photographic images! That's why we binned it....

Alas...

1.5 to 2 metres high with an even wider spread, possibly up to 4 metres, Steragram. A lot of the measurements given on plant labels these days only state the plant's height and spread in five years, not ultimately, which I think is extremely naughty because it doesn't necessarily specify that time span.
