I want to add evergreen foliage in pots including some small trees so that I have an interest throughout the winter. Can you advise me. Thank you

Nandina is my favourite Evergreen, and seems happy in any soil with any aspect.

Regular Goyers will know what I'm going to say - Euonymus fortunii, silver or gold variegated varieties.
Or a "lollipop" trained evergreen eg holly. Or if its north facing Sarcococca confusa, which has sweetly scented flowers in the middle of winter.
