I have several packs of bulbs which should have been planted by May. What is the best way to store them till next year, or would it be ok to plant them now?

what ever they are plant them out. they may grow leaves or sit in the soil but at least they wont be drying out any further.
what were they by the way?

Your question has already been answered - without knowing what they are, its impossible to say whether its worth planting them now or not - they're unlikely to keep till next year however you store them.
