Hi everyone, can any of you tell me what this plant is called please.? I've had it for about 10 yrs and this is the 1st year it has had a flower growing. It was in a pot for the first 5 yrs then was put in the ground. The spikes are very sharp and sometimes lethal but I love it. Many thanks in advance to those who can help.

Variegated form of Yucca gloriosa. Actually, I'm not certain that that is the right species name, but that is what our suppliers call it.

We used to have one in our last garden. It didn't flower for nearly ten years and the year it did send up a beautiful flower spike that was the year we moved house!

Andrewr has an excellent photo from August 2014. To find, click the "Y" tab at the bottom of this page, click on "Yucca gloriosa", and click on photos. It is the third one in, on the slideshow.
