My asparagus plants are developing seed heads, should they be removed?

Little green berries scattered among the ferns? Picking them off will increase next year's harvest slightly, but in a big bed, it may be more work than it's worth. Little bell shaped blooms, but no berries? Don't worry at all--it's a male plant.
