In parts of my garden borders I keep finding like white granules in the soil, can you tell me what this is , or is it harming the plants etc.

Yes, several things it could be, but only a good picture, or extremely rigorous description could identify it.

It won't be slug eggs - they're clear and almost impossible to see unless you're looking for them.

As others have said, you need to provide a photo and tell us how large these 'granules' are before anyone can help.

I've looked at Google images for slug eggs and some look white and just like the ones I find in our garden.

I wonder if its perlite from previously planted plants. it is a common practise as it improves drainage in compost.

snail eggs are almost perfectly round and squidgy when gently squeezed. they usually start off clear and as the hatching time gets closer become cloudier.

Also you usually find them in clumps, not evenly spread through the soil.
