what is the best time to move a peony from a pot into the garden? It's not flowered for 2 years (I'm sure the pot is also too small) so want to move it to the garden.

Even in Scotland I'd wait until October to move.

September/October is fine - although if you're in the South, you might want to wait for the current heatwave to pass!
