This is most likely to be the plant otherwise known as a Lisianthus. It's an annual, so enjoy it while you can. I grew some outdoors last year, but I see no reason why you shouldn't have it indoors as a houseplant.

If they are in a sheltered sunny spot, they should stand a good chance of coming up again the next year. Often prettier the second year, but not usually the third. It is considered a short-lived, half-hardy perennial. Last winter would have been hard on it. It's difficult indoors, unless it gets lots of sun, and good air circulation. The original wild species from the American Plains is much hardier, but much harder to find.

How do I say thanks?
