Hi, I have just read that I should have pruned my mum's flowering cherry tree straight after the flowers died. I thought all trees should be pruned in the Autumn/Winter. Should I now wait until March and then prune it and mum's roses? Thanks Eileen George

Yes, wait - if its a flowering cherry and you prune it now, there'll be no flowers next spring, but the fact is, they don't need pruning at all - if you have to prune it, then make sure you do it in May and not before because of the risk of silverleaf disease.

How do I say thanks?
