I've a root system running under my lawn - I think it maybe Japanese Knotweed as the syptoms are similar although the pictures don't really match. Can anyone help me identify it.
It grows fast with new stems within a day if i've tried to pull root or plants out. The roots break easily if you pull them. The largest roots i've found are over an inch in diameter.

I don't think Japanese Knotweed. More like a willow? Any other opinions?

I'd say willow or hazel, but willow more likely - Goat willow?

Pretty broad leaf for a willow. It looks more like a member of the Rose family to me.

Not too broad for Salix caprea, Tugbrethil.

A species I'm not familiar with! No surprise it's sprouting, if it's a willow, but I don't see the distinctive wing-like stipules at the leaf attachment, though.

Are there any nearby trees Skawillow? The leaf doesn't look like willow or hazel to me. Is it some sort of cherry?
Does it look very like the plant in the windowbox asked about in another question to anyone else?

Looks like it might be from the plum family - either purple or morroccon plum.
