I have planted 4 fruit trees in the garden (new in March this year) and first put into tubs.
Do I have to prune before the year is out, and if so, how much do I take off.
Trees are Apple, Plum, Cherry & Pear.

Depends how much they have grown Davr. As they were only planted in March it might be best to leave them to establish themselves. It is generally recommended not to allow fruit to form on apples and pears for a year or two. This is so they get a good root system down before bearing. Later on...Summer pruning in July/August to take out extensions back to 3 leaf axils. Winter pruning to keep shape and height under control, in February before any sign of growth starting.
