Hi.
Please can someone help.
I'm have a shrub in my garden just starting to get buds on it, but also in noticed these ball things on it, never seen them before.
It have attached a photograph.

It might be an insect gall, but it looks horribly like crown gall, an incurable bacterial infection of plants.

It's very common on Forsythia, which I think this is, and doesn't seem to do any harm. I think it's a proliferation of shoots.

Hmm...apparently common, but slow death to affected branches. There is still some debate as to the exact cause:
