Wait till the bottom ones turn brown then snip them off.

The more green leaves that can be left on, the more vigorous the plant will be.

I think cutting off the leaves would ruin the shape of the plant, then you'll be stuck with an ugly plant for another year. They are still healthy and functioning. I would leave it alone.
