I have a fig tree in a large pot, for several years it has provided lovely fruit though not very much. Last year figs appeared late, then stopped growing, leaves fell off approximately twenty fruits remained all the size of ping pong balls. They remained throughout the winter, and are still in situ. Shoots are beginning to appear, should I remove the fruits and await this years growth, sorry no photo. Thank you

You are lucky to have figs last year I sought advise from this site and it was recommended the pot was too small. I have since doubled it in size, did not get any fruits. After this winter it has really grown so leggy so today I am going to a third off each branch. Another tip I got was they do not like sitting in water so I removed the large saucer. Lastly they do grow very large that's why I keep it in a pot. I am sure you know all about you fig, I am just sharing the tips, hope they help.

First, make sure that it is getting plenty of sun, since figs are native to the Middle East. Figs in pots will need regular though infrequent feeding with a 2-1-1 proportioned food.

Hi, welcome to GoY, just leave the fruits on the plant, they will start to get bigger, and ripen earlier than this years fruit, it would probably benefit by being planted in the ground if you have room for it, they're hardy plants so no need to keep them in pots, and need a lot less care when planted in the ground, Derek.
