Is it common to see a pellucid hawk moth in Britain? Have just had one in my garden!!

I think you will have seen a Bee Hawkmoth or Hummingbird Hawkmoth rather than one of these unless you are sure of id. I suspect from the little I know that it would be extremely rare if not almost unheard of.
