As an update to my question yesterday about the strawberry net being eaten - I've been told by my local garden centre that the culprit is a squirrel ! The chap there says he has seen squirrels do this , but why and how to stop them he didn't know. In fact just seen the criminal running along the lawn !!

Well, I'll tell you what works for me as weird as it sounds - vacuum cleaner fluff. Dump it around your plants or the entrance. Do this every time you vacuum. Works even better if you have a dog or cat - the scent repels them. It's free fertilizer too! I haven't lost a single carrot, beet or cabbage yet - fingers crossed.

He must have taken the bits he took off somewhere, can't imagine a squirrel would eat it - maybe for use in his drey, or cavity nest, no idea really - thanks for getting back though!

Yes they are little so and sos - we have had them eating through the wire mesh on a peanut feeder. They must have amazing teeth!
