My tree has got tiny insects (blue/grey) on the leaves which seem to be curling up and dying back. Its a Sorbus Copper Kettle. This happened last year too but I left it to see what happened. I can't spray it as there's lots of other plants underneath the tree, so should I take it out? It's 8 years old.

It sounds like aphids, but without a picture, I can't be positive. Fill a spray bottle with soapy water (dish soap) & a spoonful of baking soda. Spray the plant with the soapy water solution & be sure to spray the underside of the leaves. After a couple minutes, hose down the plant thoroughly. Bugs will be gone & Ralph is your uncle :)
